Former England striker Gary Lineker used social networking site Twitter to mock Nani after Portugal's 2-2 draw verus USA at the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.

The former England striker turned football pundit tweeted after Nani's fifth minute strike: "Nani has just matched his goal tally for Manchester United last season." The post generated guffaws over the site and has been retweeted 3161 times till now.

With 10 goals, Lineker is England's highest scorer in their World Cup history. The 53-year-old is also the second highest goal-scorer for The Three Lions, just one goal behind England's 1966 World Cup winning hero Bobby Charlton (49 goals).

Nani has been dissapointing for Manchester United in the last couple of seasons. The Portuguese winger has netted just a solitary goal last season in 13 appearances. Even in United's EPL title-winning 2012-13 season, he scored just three goals and wasn't a major part of the Red Devils' team. Thus former Everton, Tottenham and Barcelona striker Lineker took a dig at the Manchester United outcast.

Though last year Nani had pledged his future at Old Trafford until 2018, the 27-year-old is no more the star he used to be. After having fallen down United's pecking order, Nani is reportedly looking for a move away from Manchester United. Reports in the British media had earlier hinted at Arsenal showing an interest, but nothing concrete has materialised out of it yet.
