Gerard Deulofeu: I’d rather play for Stoke City than Real Madrid

Gerard Deulofeu, the Spanish forward who played for Everton last season on-loan from Barcelona insulted Real Madrid with a comment that is sure to make Madridistas wild.

When asked whether he would prefer to play for Real Madrid or at Stoke City in the Premier League, the forward replied, “In Stoke.”

The 20-year old returned to Nou Camp after a successful stint at Goodison Park which saw Everton finish fifth, above dethroned champions Manchester United and North London club Tottenham Hotspur. He scored 3 goals in 25 appearances for the Merseyside club including a goal on debut against Cardiff City.

Deulofeu was at an event promoting Nike in Andorra when reporters asked about his future at Barcelona which consists of superstars like Lionel Messi, Neymar and probably Luis Suarez too.

'Yes, they are the best players, but I am very confident in myself, I think much of my chances and I work every day hoping to get my challenges.'

He also claimed the loan stint at Everton made him mature as a person and a player and hopes to play for Spain one day.

'As a player, I've learned [what can] cost me [in] defensive aspects. It has been very helpful. Until you're out and you have no family, [different] food, the weather - you do not know what you have and you learn to value things.'
