What is the most embarrassing moment in a football player’s career?
Is it missing an open goal? Maybe it is receiving a red card just minutes after entering the field?
However, have you ever celebrated a goal without scoring?
The exact thing happened to Belgian footballer Guillaume Gillet of Bastia. His left-footed shot from outside the box was crisply struck, but Benoit Costil, Rennes’ goalkeeper, tipped it onto the bar to prevent Gillet from scoring.
Gillet however turned around and ran to celebrate a spectacular goal only to be told by his teammate that the game is still on and he did not score.
Gillet can be forgiven for celebrating though as he is primarily a right-back and does not get many opportunites to celebrate as he doesn’t score many goals.
