Hamburger SV fires head coach for disappointing results

Berlin, Sep 25 (IANS) German football club Hamburger SV announced on Sunday the dismissal of head coach Bruno Labbadia after losing four games and drawing in one during the first five weeks of the Bundesliga.

The club said in a statement that Labbadia's assistants, Eddy Sozer and Bernhard Trares, were fired as well, and confirmed that it will announce the name of the new coach this week, reports Efe.

The Bundesliga 0-1 loss against Bayern Munich prompted Hamburg's management and its director, Dietmar Beiersdorfer, to dismiss Labbadia with immediate effect.

Beiersdorfer highlighted that this decision was necessary after a disappointing start of the season.

Nonetheless, Beiersdorfer thanked the coach for his efforts with the team throughout an 18-month period, and stressed that he will not forget Labbadia saving Hamburg from relegating for the first time in its history.
