Highlights: Arsenal register 5-0 victory over Aston Villa for biggest win of season

Mesut Ozil of Arsenal celebrates after scoring his team's second goal against Aston Villa

Arsenal ruthlessly demolished Aston Villla in a 5-0 victory at the Emirates that makes it three straight league wins for them, the first time this season. French striker Olivier Giroud gave the hosts the desired start netting inside 10 minutes, before Mesut Ozil added a second and Theo Walcott grabbed a third.

Santi Cazorla then successfully converted a penalty in the 75th minute. Hector Bellerin put the final nail into Villa’s coffin in the dying minutes by placing a well struck shot in the bottom left corner.

The North Londoners were without star man Alexis Sanchez on Sunday but made light work of Paul Lambert's men, who have now gone six Premier League games without a goal.

The returning Ozil and Walcott turned in stellar displays on the night and showed no signs of rustiness.

Villa remain just three points above the relegation zone and are without a win in eight league matches, having failed to score in their last six - a new and dubious record. Alexis Sanchez was not risked but was barely missed as Arsenal exhibited their counter-attacking best in the second half and Villa's wait for a goal was stretched beyond 10 hours.

Wenger is surely relishing taking the positive from this win because not very long ago he was facing criticism. Now after a successful transfer window and wins in consecutive games, he can relax a bit.
