Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (L) fights for the ball with Alex Song

Arsenal made the short journey to West Ham United on the back of a 2-1 victory against Queens Park Rangers. They beat fellow Londoners West Ham United by the same score at Upton Park.

2 goals at the end of the first half for Arsenal left an insurmountable lead for the Hammers as they fell to yet another defeat after a 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.

Santi Cazorla opened the scoring for the Gunners from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box.

3 minutes later, summer signing Danny Welbeck doubled their lead with a tap-in after some brilliant work by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The second half saw West Ham reduce Arsenal’s lead but Cheikhou Kouyate’s goal early in the second half ended up as a mere consolation for the Hammers.

Highlights:

West Ham United 0-1 Arsenal: Santi Cazorla (pen) (41’)

Santi Cazorla took up the responsibility of the penalty kick after he was fouled inside the box. Alexis Sanchez missed a penalty in the last match, but, Cazorla made no mistake as he sent the West Ham goalkeeper the wrong side to give the away side the lead.

West Ham United 0-2 Arsenal: Danny Welbeck (44’)

16 million pound man Danny Welbeck increased Arsenal’s lead three minutes after Cazorla’s goal. Chamberlain’s nifty footwork allowed him to pass the ball to Welbeck, who was left free at the far post to tap the ball in.

West Ham United 1-2 Arsenal: Cheikhou Kouyate (54’)

Kouyate’s close range header reduced the West Ham’s deficit in the match. West Ham won a corner and the ball found its way to James Tomkins whose cross was met by Kouyate and his looking header found the back of the net.
