Barcelona ran riot as Lionel Messi inspired the Catalan club to a resounding win over last placed Levante in La Liga on Sunday night. With this win, they go back to the top of the table with a perfect start to the season – 12 points from the first four games.

Levante had Loukas Vyntra sent off after receiving a red card but Messi missed a penalty in the first half, but made up for it with a sublime chip in the second half.

The Argentine forward also assisted Neymar for the first goal and Sandro Ramirez for the third.

Ivan Rakitic scored the goal of the game with a thunderous volley from outside the box and into the left corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.

Ramirez and Pedro both got on the scoresheet, but it was their teamwork and unselfishness which was to be lauded.
