France celebrate Loic Remy’s goal against Spain

Chelsea’s new signing Loic Remy scored the winner in a 1-0 win over Spain in Paris on Thursday night.

Remy had come on as a substitute with the score tied at 0-0 and scored with a sweetly-timed strike from just inside the box in the 73rd minute of the game.

But it was the build up to the goal that will be remembered as Les Bleus, inspired by Spain’s tiki-taka, scored the goal with neat one touch passing and movement in and around the box.

Mathieu Valbuena started the move which also involved Karim Benzema and Moussa Sissoko laying it off back to Valbuena. The playmaker then drew the defender to himself before passing it to Remy who finished it first time.

It was a game that never saw Spain threaten to score and France coach Didier Deschamps was very critical of the Spanish side.

“Spain used to play with their eyes shut with movement, precision, understanding,” he said.

“Vicente Del Bosque's a very good coach, but he's no more of a magician than anyone else.”

Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque said, “It's true we didn't create a clear chance, but we got ourselves into some dangerous positions.

“It's a regeneration process, and that is what we're aspiring to.

“You can't always look back in football, and I was pleased with the attitude of the players.”
