Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-1 in the International Champions Cup trophy final to win the pre-season tournament in Miami, USA.
It was Liverpool who took the lead in when Steven Gerrard dispatched a penalty by sending David De Gea the wrong way after Raheem Sterling was fouled in the box by Phil Jones. They held on to the lead until half time and ten minutes into the second half.
Wayne Rooney then got on the score sheet with an accurate sidefooted shot after a sumptuous cross from Javier Hernandez. The Red Devils then doubled their lead in two minutes when Juan Mata scored from the edge of the box with a deflection taking it past the goalkeeper.
Louis van Gaal’s men finally sealed the game in the 88th minute when Jesse Lingard controlled a pass and volleyed it from the edge of the box to beat the keeper.
