Sergio Agüero, single-handedly, saved Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League campaign in an exciting match at an electric Etihad stadium in Manchester.
On a day when Lionel Messi broke the Champions League goal-scoring record by scored a hat-trick, Sergio Agüero matched his fellow Argentinian’s goal-scoring exploits on the night by scoring three goals past Manuel Neuer.
Sergio Agüero scored all three goals for Manchester City as they beat 10-man Bayern Munich in a dramatic end to the game. The dimunitive striker struck two goals in six minutes to give City the lead in stoppage time.

Bayern Munich defender, Mehdi Benatia was given his marching orders when he brought down the City man in the 20th minute.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich: Agüero pen (21’)
After he was fouled, Sergio Agüero stepped up to put City in the lead against the German champions. He looked as cool as a cucumber and side-footed the ball past Manuel Neuer and wheeled off in celebration having given City the lead in a crucial group E match.

Birthday boy Xabi Alonso put Bayern back on level terms in the 40th minute with a perfectly executed free kick. Roberto Lewandowski was fouled at the edge of the box and Xabi Alonso immediately signalled that he wanted to take the free kick.
There were 2 Bayern Munich players in the wall to block Joe Hart’s vision and as soon as Alonso hit the ball, they moved away and soon after the net was bulging. It was a cleverly taken free kick by the Spaniard.

Right before half-time, Roberto Lewandowski gave 10-man Bayern Munich a surprise lead when he headed/shouldered the ball over Englishman Joe Hart.
Jerome Boateng crossed from a deep area and the Polish striker got in between Vincent Kompany and Bacary Sagna to head the ball and give the Germans the lead.

Man of the match Sergio Agüero took advantage of a mistake by goal-scorer Xabi Alonso and tied the game with a brilliant left-footed finish.
Xabi Alonso tried a left-footed pass to Dante, but could only find Stevan Jovetic, who’s first touch set the ball up for the Argentinian wizard to run past Boateng and Dante. As soon as he got inside the penalty box, he showed why he is one of the best strikers on the planet and shot the ball across Neuer with his left foot and set the game up for an exciting finish.

The Manchester City fans’ eyes must have lit up when they saw Sergio Agüero stealing the ball from Jerome Boateng and running towards Manuel Neuer’s goal.
Jerome Boateng misjudged a pass and gave the ball away cheaply to Agüero who duly accepted the gift and this time with his right foot, slid the ball past Neuer for the third time. The Argentinian had completed his hat-trick but, more importantly for City, they had just survived an embarrassing draw/defeat against a Munich side who were playing with 10 men for more than 70 minutes.
