Berlin, Dec 14 (IANS) German football club Hoffenheim's Niklas Suele will be out of action for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

Suele suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee during Saturday's 3-2 win over Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga, reports Xinhua. The under-21 German international had to be carried off the pitch.

Suele has been one of Hoffenheim’s most important players, featuring in all of their Bundesliga matches and his injury has come as a big blow to the side.

"I feel sorry for Niklas. He is a great kid who took a great development. We will fully support him and help him through this difficult period of his career," Hoffenheim director Alexander Rosen said.

Hoffenheim are currently in seventh place in the league standings.
