With Manchester United hardly directing many shots at Hull goals, Harper rarely had to do much, however, he did well whenever he was called upon.

He went forward at every possible occasion to put crosses into the box. With the exception of few crosses, his deliveries into the box was good.

Michael Dawson - 7/10

Dawson was a real rock at the back and was upto the challenge against United. He also went forward regularly to use his physical presence to good effect.

Mcshane partnered Dawson well to keep United's attack on check. He also did well in the other box when he went forward for set pieces.

Brady put in many crosses in the box, but was not able to provide any dangerous crosses to trouble the United defenders.

Dame N'Doye - 6/10

He at times struggled to keep with the pace of the game. He was also not able to make much to score or create a goal.

Nikica Jelavic - 5/10

He missed a sitter in the second half to put Hull in front, even though that would not have been enough as Newcastle won their game. Apart from that chance, Jelavic was not able to make much on the day.

Substitutes

Abel Hernandez (70') - 5/10

He had a great chance to put Hull in front but missed it. Apart from it, he was not able to make the most to change the fortunes. Was lucky the referee did not spot his punch on Phil Jones.

Sone Aluko (71') - 5/10

He was brought on to help change the team fortune, but it was not to be as the match finished goalless.

Andrew Robertson (86') - N/A

Hardly had much time to make an impact.

Manchester United

Victor Valdes - 7.5/10 (Man of the match)

Valdes was initially nervous as he spilled a cross, but he made up for it with two fine saves later on in the match.

Antonio Valencia - 6/10

Valencia was not able to enjoy the usual space he had enjoyed in his flank. He had to defend more and he did well.

Chris Smalling - 6/10

He initially struggled to deal with the crosses, but as the match wore on he got settled in and did his job effectively.

Phil Jones - 6/10

Just like Smalling, he too struggled to deal with the crosses put into the box. But, then formed a good partnership with his defensive partner to keep waves of Hull attacks at bay in the second half.

Marcos Rojo - 6/10

He defended decently on his flank against a lively Elmohamady. He however, couldn't go forward much in the other end.

Daley Blind - 6/10

Mata's passing was at times wayward and he gave quite a few balls away. Except for setting up Herrera with a great chance in the second half, he was not able to do much on the day.

Ander Herrera - 7/10

Herrera was the clubs best attacking outlet. He was at the heart of many United attacks but was not able to get that goal. He also defended decently.

Angel Di Maria - 5/10

Di Maria made a rare start, but that did not last long as he was replaced in the first half with after sustaining and injury.

Ashley Young - 6/10

Young was not able to make the same kind of impact he had in recent weeks. Apart from nearly setting Herrera with a lobbed cross, Young was not able to create much.

Wayne Rooney. - 6.5/10

Twice Rooney came close to scoring but was not to be. Apart from that, he was not at his usual best. Even his passing at times was wayward.

Maroune Fellaini (59') - 4/10 (Flop of the match)

Fellaini was brought on in the second half to contain waves of Hull attacks. He did that to an extent before being sent off for a silly red card.

James Wilson (73') - 5/10
