Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho feels he doesn’t deserve to win the Ballon d’Or for coaches

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is one of the few coaches in the world nominated to win the coveted FIFA Ballon d’Or for coaches.

However, the Portuguese manager was brutally honest and said that he doesn’t deserve to win the award.

Mourinho said: “I'm certain that I won't win.

“And I even admit that I don't deserve to win the Ballon d'Or.”

Regulations don’t nominate the right coaches: Mourinho

The Blues boss failed to win a trophy last season, and he is one of four coaches who are nominated but didn’t win a major title. Apart from Mourinho, Jurgen Klinsmann (USA Men’s National Team), Alejandro Sabella (Argentina coach who took the team to the World Cup final) and Louis van Gaal (Holland finished third in the World Cup) were also nominated.

The 51-year-old also spoke about the injustice meted out to his compatriot Jorge Jesus. His Benfica side won the Portuguese treble of Primeira Liga, Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga and also finished runners-up in the Europa League.

Mourinho said: “I think that the regulations prohibit there being managers of sides eliminated in the Champions League group stage.”

The other managers who are nominated are: Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid), Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid), Pep Guardiola (Bayern Munich), Antonio Conte (Juventus and Italy), Joachim Loew (Germany) and Manuel Pellegrini (Manchester City).
