I-League: Churchill Brothers host East Bengal in battle against relegation and for the title

The Red Machines will play host to title contenders East Bengal Club in what will be a crucial I-League match for both the sides at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao on Wednesday evening at 5pm.

In the previous I-League fixture, Churchill Brothers Goa lost 2-4 to Mumbai FC due to a hattrick of their former striker Yakubu Yusif, while the Kolkata outfit had a morale boosting 3-1 win over Pune FC last Saturday evening.

The Goan side are bottom of the table with only 19 points from 21 matches played while the Red-and-Gold brigade are in third position with 37 points from 21 matches.

Churchill Brothers head coach Mariano Dias said ahead of the game, “We have to forget the loss vs Mumbai FC and now concentrate on trying to get all three points against a good East Bengal side.”

“I believe the boys are capable of putting up a good show and getting all three points in a very important match,” Mariano Dias added.

A cracker of a game can be expected with both teams needing the points as Churchill Brothers want to avoid relegation, while East Bengal will want to win the elusive I-League title.
