Mohun Bagan have announced a shortlist of four names for the head coach role next season. Current coach Karim Bencherifa is one of the candidates along with former United SC coach Eelco Schattorie, ex-East Bengal coach Trevor James Morgan and current Churchill Brothers technical director Subhash Bhowmick.

The shortlist was prepared after discussions between the club’s newly-formed technical committee, which comprises of former players Shibaji Banerjee, Compton Dutta and Satyajit Chatterjee, and senior club officials.

According to sources, Bhowmick and Morgan are the favourites. If Bhowmick is the final choice, then the three-time I-League winning coach will be the manager while an AFC A licensed coach will be separately appointed with Mridul Banerjee, Prasanta Banerjee and Prasanta Chakraborty being the options.

“I am honoured to be nominated for a big club like Mohun Bagan. I am a bit surprised that they have chosen four coaches with completely different styles. But it is their call and I am happy to be nominated,” Schattorie was quoted saying by TOI.

A final decision will be taken after Mohun Bagan’s final I-League fixture of the season against Shillong Lajong on April 27.
