I-League: Mohun Bagan confirm the signing of Jeje Lalpekhlua

Sportskeeda revealed on Tuesday that India international Jeje Lalpekhlua is set to join Mohun Bagan and the Kolkata club confirmed the move on Wednesday.

Speaking to the club’s official website Jeje said, “I have taken up a fresh challenge in my football career, as I decided to join Mohun Bagan on a one-year contract. I hope to give my best in my first stint in a Kolkata club.

“It is very special for any footballer to play in one of the best clubs of the country, Mohun Bagan, and I would like to thank the club management and technical director Subhash Bhowmick for giving me this opportunity."

Jeje would be looking to revive his career at Mohun Bagan after failing to be a first team regular at Dempo last season. The 23-year-old will be aiming to repeat his form from the 2010-11 season, which he calls his best campaign as he scored 13 goals for Indian Arrows and finished as the highest Indian scorer.

The green-and-maroon brigade are desperate to end their four-season trophy drought and thus Jeje will be under pressure to deliver for the first time in his career.

The Mizoram striker is looking forward to the challenge of living up to the expectations of the club’s enormous fanbase.

“I am looking forward to be playing in front of Mohun Bagan supporters and would like to thank everyone for your support,” he signed off.
