After sitting out the last round, a refreshed Sporting Clube de Goa will clash with Mohun Bagan AC in a round 5 match of the I-League at the Saltlake Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday afternoon.

Mohun Bagan are still searching for their first win of the I-League season, while Sporting Goa will look to build on their last match where they defeated Shillong Lajong FC by a solitary goal away to give them their first victory of the new season.

Curiously Mohun Bagan was the only team to do the double over Sporting Goa last season in the I-League, by winning at home and away, although on both occasions Spanish Coach Oscar Bruzon was not present on the bench for the Flaming Oranje.

The first time the teams met, Oscar had not yet taken over as coach and Mohun Bagan scored a 3-1 win in Kolkata. For the return game in Goa, Oscar was suspended and Mohun Bagan triumphed 5-1 thanks largely due to a hattrick from Odafe Onyeka Okolie.

This time around, Oscar has got a ringside seat, while Odafe who has been nursing an injury is expected to miss the match. Mohun Bagan will also be without Nigerian central defender Echezona Anyichie who picked up a red card in the last game.

There may be a happy reunion on the cards for former Sporting Goa utility player Adil Ahmed Khan who has recovered from fever and could feature for the Mariners.

Sporting Goa meanwhile will look to Nigerian midfielder Ogba Kalu Nnanna who has netted two decisive goals in two matches this season. This will be Sporting Goa’s fourth away game in a row, while Mohun Bagan will be playing their first home match after three continuous away encounters.

Sporting Goa is currently seventh in the table with four points from three games, while Mohun Bagan is tenth with two points from three matches.

The match will kick-off at 5pm and will be shown live on TenAction!
