I-League: Mohun Bagan to sign Jeje Lalpekhlua

Mohun Bagan are set to sign India international Jeje Lalpekhlua, Sportskeeda can reveal.

Jeje had a year left on his Dempo contract but he has been released by the Goan club and his move to Mohun Bagan is expected to be made official in the next few days. The Mizoram striker will be penning a one-year deal with the Mariners.

The 23-year-old managed only ten starts for Dempo in the 2013-14 I-League and scored five goals. He has been included among the India Under-23 probables for the 2014 Asian Games.

This will be Jeje’s fourth different club having spent five seasons at Pune FC over two spells, one season at the now defunct Indian Arrows and the 2013-14 campaign at Dempo.

Jeje has been capped more than 20 times at international level, winning the 2011 SAFF Championship, but he is yet to win any major domestic trophy at club level. He finished as the highest Indian scorer in the 2010-11 I-League with 13 goals for Indian Arrows and will be looking to end Mohun Bagan’s four-season trophy drought.

Mehta to MB; Rowilson back at Dempo

The green-and-maroon brigade are also in advanced talks with the versatile Ashutosh Mehta. The 23-year-old spent three seasons at Mumbai FC and was one of the best U-23 players of the 2013-14 campaign. The deal is expected to be completed soon.

Mohun Bagan are also targeting Churchill Brothers trio Balwant Singh, Dharmaraj Ravanan and Satish Singh with the future of the Red Machines uncertain as they were denied the national club license.

Meanwhile Rowilson Rodrigues has re-joined Dempo after spending a difficult season at Mohun Bagan. Dempo are also set to release Peter Carvalho, who is on East Bengal’s radar with Armando Colaco looking to reunite with the midfielder.
