I-League: Mohun Bagan look to continue their unbeaten run

Bagan are currently third on the league table with 10 points

Mohun Bagan will look to continue their unbeaten run when they host Mumbai FC in an I-League game at the Barasat Stadium here on Wednesday.

Bagan won their last game against DSK Shivajians and are currently third on the league table with 10 points. A win would propel them to the second spot having played only five matches, one less than leaders Bengaluru FC and second placed East Bengal.

It remains to be seen, however, if Bagan have recovered from their 0-6 demolition by Shandong Luneng in the AFC Champions League second qualifying round in Jinan, China.

Bagan have also been troubled by off-field issues, with coach Sanjoy Sen being show caused by the All India Football Federation a few days ago for his acidic comments about the game's national governing body.

Bagan have the best attack in I-League now

Leaving aside the heartbreak in China and matters concerning the gaffer, if the hosts need to grab all three points they need to be at the top of their game as Mumbai won't be a cakewalk. They are a rung below Bagan in the points table and have beaten sides like Bengaluru and Salgaocar.

With the likes of Arata Izumi and Son Min-chol upfront, scoring goals is not expected to be much of a problem for the visitors.

At the other end, Bagan boast of an attack which is one of the best in the league. Haitian midfielder Sony Norde has been brilliant and there is no reason why he cannot produce his best again on Wednesday. He has been ably supported by Katsumi Yusa and Jeje Lalpekhlua upfront.

Bagan striker Cornell Glen is still the top scorer in the tournament this season with four goals from as many games, and if the Trinidadian has his shooting boots on, he might just prove to be a menace for the Mumbai defence.
