I may play in the ISL – Former Man United and Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre

Former French World Cupper Mikael Silvestre has revealed in an interview with TOI that he is in talks with IMG-Reliance about playing in the Indian Super League.

The 36-year-old also admitted that back in 2012 he was in talks with Mumbai’s Dodsal FC but it didn’t work out.

“I was in touch with Dodsal FC but nothing materialised. Yes, I am talking with the IMG and there is a possibility that I may play in the ISL,” Silvestre was quoted saying.

Silvestre had spells with Manchester United and Arsenal in the English Premier League and last played for MLS outfit Portland Timbers.

He is currently in Mumbai to work as a pundit on Sony Six’s 2014 World Cup coverage along with current Stoke City striker Peter Crouch, former England forward Robbie Fowler and ex-England goalkeeper and captain Peter Shilton, Australia's Ellyse Perry and India captain Sunil Chhetri.

Talking about France’s chances in Brazil 2014, Silvestre said, “France have a reasonably good side and should be able to deal with the first stage and qualify for the round of 16. (France are in Group E along with Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras).

“The team faced many difficulties in the qualifying stages and some had almost written them off. They did well to qualify and have enough experience to deal with the group stage but it is very difficult to predict beyond that. Franck Ribery's absence due to injury, of course, will be a big blow and it remains to be seen how the players react to that on the pitch. Moreover, they need to play together as a team.”
