Post-season tours are like nightmares for manager Arsene Wenger who has revealed that it was because of the early kick-off to the Premier League season that Arsenal had to cancel a tour to India next summer.

Speaking to the Telegraph in an interview, the French manager admitted that club had plans to tour India for their pre-season in the coming summer which involves them participating in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore, but with the next season of the Premier League starting as early as 8 August, they had to shelve the plan for the time being.

“I would love to go to India personally because I have never been with a team. It is a country that opens to football, but we could not find a way. We looked into it,” said Wenger.

“Let’s not forget they voted to start early in August this season. That is a bit of a nightmare when you think you start on August 8; some players are still playing on June 21 in South America and June 14 in Europe,” he added.

It was earlier decided in January that the next Premier League would begin on August 8 so as to allow England manager Roy Hodgson additional time to prepare the English national team for the 2016 European Championship.
