Iker Casillas makes peace with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

Iker Casillas buries the hatchet with Jose Mourinho

Iker Casillas told ESPN that his feud with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was in the past and although he was happy for his team's victory, the former Real Madrid Captain did not take any personal satisfaction from the game. It was known fact that the Spanish goalkeeper and the Portuguese manager were not on the best of terms when Mourinho was in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu, as he was dropped down the pecking order after a series of internal disputes.

Mourinho met Casillas at his former club Porto, a club where he won everything, when the former brought Chelsea to face the Primeira Liga leaders in the UEFA Champions League . Although he would have liked to win again at the Estadio do Dragao, Porto went on to beat Chelsea courtesy of a goal from defender Maicon and midfielder Andre Andre.

While Chelsea had a stronger team on paper, Casillas had stats on his side as he has four and drawn once in the last five meeting with a team managed by Mourinho.

After the match, Casillas spoke with Champions Total where he spoke about the victories stating, "I'm not happy with having beaten Mourinho. I'm happy for winning with my team.

"I shook hands with Mourinho. That is what gentlemen do. A long time has passed. I don't live in the past."

In the game, Casillas was in top form and stopped Chelsea on several occasions, but unfortunate to lose his clean sheet after Willian netted the ball from a freekick. The player took responsibility for the Willian goal.

"I could have done more," he said. "It was difficult to see the ball as it moved, but it is my responsibility. Fortunately, the team went on to get the win."

When asked about the talk the two former Real Madrid men had, Casillas replied, “’See you in London... all the best,' he said to me."

He also ended up breaking the record for the record of most Champions League appearances on Tuesday with 152 appearances.

Costa blames teams concentration for loss

While Porto were relishing their victory, Chelsea striker Diego Costa was unhappy with the result and blamed a lack of focus for the defeat

"We had the game under control. We knew it was going to be a physical game," said Costa.

"We began well. Things changed when they scored, but we quickly equalised. In the second half the same thing happened. We were lacking concentration at key moments of the game. To come out of this we need to be all together, and for everyone to give a little more. We are not playing well, this is not a good moment, but we have players to get out of this easily."

This is one of the worst starts for Chelsea in the Roman Abramovich era as they currently sit 14th in the league and third in the Champions League Group G.
