Ilkay Gundogan says Klopp is emotional but Pep is a genius

The two managers will once again face off in the Premier League

Manchester" target="_blank">Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has said that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is emotional while labelling his current manager Pep Guardiola a genius. Praising his coach, the German midfielder said that Guardiola is superior to the Normal One hailing the former Barcelona coach as “probably the best in the world.”

Gundogan first gained attention when he broke into Borussia Dortmund's first team under Klopp, winning the Bundesliga title in the 2011/12 season and finishing as Champions League runners-up a year later.

After missing out on the recent EURO 2016 tournament due to injury, Gundogan joined City in June and seems to have a bright future at the Etihad under the Spanish boss.

"Both are world-class managers with their own qualities," said the German international when comparing the two managers.

"It wouldn't be fair to say Jurgen is more emotional but when you see him on the sidelines living every minute, it's not hard to understand why Dortmund was so successful under him.

"Pep is equally passionate but in a different way. He is more like a genius who reads the game and covers every situation imaginable. He is always showing us how to create space and find solutions and there is no manager like him, which makes him probably the best in the world."

The 25-year-old kicked off his Premier League debut with a well-taken goal as his strike grabbed City all the three points against the Cherries. A 4-0 win saw the Citizens make it eight wins out of eight in all competitions and Gundogan was delighted with the way his new team-mates have adapted.

"We're really happy to have this quality in the squad," he said.

"There is still potential to get better but every single game is a new one, starting from zero. From what I've seen so far we need to be very flexible because no one will stay for 30 minutes in the same role because we are changing all the time.

"The most important thing is that we have a good build-up and that every player knows what he has to do so it doesn't matter which role the manager gives us."

After an excellent start to the Premier League, Manchester City has two tough away fixtures coming up. They face Swansea City followed by a trip to White Hart Lane, where they faced a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham last season.
