Gerrard hasn’t revealed a lot about his future

Italian giants Inter Milan have reportedly shown an interest in signing Steven Gerrard from LA Galaxy and extending his playing career. According to reports, Inter representatives contacted Gerrard in October before Frank De Boer was sacked as manager.

According to Inter insiders, they held initial discussions to extend the player’s football career for another 6 months until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Inter have performed miserably in Serie A and find themselves in 9th position, 13 points behind leaders Juventus ahead of the Derby della Madonnina or better known as the Milan derby on the 21st of November.

Returning to Europe and a big club like Inter Milan would certainly appeal to Steven Gerrard who is now in the latter part of his career.

It is definitely a chance for him to go out of his playing career in style and also help Inter regain a top-four position before the end of the season. Reportedly, Gerrard is considering a number of playing as well as coaching offers both in England and outside after the announcement that his contract with LA Galaxy would not be extended beyond January 2017.

With the transfer window opening soon and with a host of clubs interested, Gerrard could perhaps strut his stuff at the Giuseppe Meazza in Milan.

New Inter boss Stefano Pioli is yet to speak about Steven Gerrard, but according to The Independent, the desire to sign the player has originated at the boardroom level. Inter’s big midfield signings in the summer have failed to perform consistently and the club are looking at replacements in central midfield specifically.

Ever Banega and Joao Mario, the latter who joined for £40 million, have not been able to adapt and play well enough for the Italian side, with the former Champions league winners losing to Southampton and facing elimination in the Europa League as well.

However, Gerrard is also in demand as a manager by minnows MK Dons with the League One club approaching the former Liverpool legend to fill the vacant managerial role at the club.

The former Anfield legend has specifically said that he does ultimately want to return to Liverpool someday but without much experience in coaching or managing that does seem farfetched at the moment.

The Liverpudlian has shown his undoubted quality in the MLS with the former Liverpool captain racking up 14 assists and scoring 5 goals in 31 games for the LA-based club.

Whether Gerrard does take up the offer by Inter Milan until the end of the season or not, fans of the former England captain are eager to know about his decision.
