Rumour: Inter Milan close to signing Manchester United & Liverpool target

Manchester United and Liverpool’s pursuit of Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho have been dealt a huge blow following the news that Inter are poised to secure his signature, reports TalkSPORT.

Carvalho has been tipped to star for Portugal during this summer’s World Cup in Brazil after producing a string of impressive performances for Leonardo Jardim’s side this season.

The 21-year-old reportedly has a £25 million release clause in his contract, but the substantial fee has not stopped speculation that several of Europe’s biggest clubs are tracking the midfielder.

David Moyes is reported to be a keen admirer and is planning a huge overhaul or his squad after overseeing a disastrous debut campaign at Old Trafford with Carvalho earmarked as a target to bring added steel to United’s midfield next season.

United enjoy a close relationship with the Portuguese side following the purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani in recent years, which could pave the way for Carvalho’s arrival.

However, Italian giants Internazionale are keen to tie up a deal for the defensive midfielder before the transfer window officially opens.

Club officials watched Carvalho during their victory at Porto earlier in the month and they have now emerged as favourites to land the highly rated midfielder ahead of their rivals.

William Carvalho has earned seven yellow cards in 22 appearances for Sporting Lisbon this season.
