Jostled between the losses here at Fatorda, on the opening day of the season and the semi final of the second season of the Hero ISL, Delhi Dynamos put up a spirited display. Having assembled a galaxy of stars like Roberto Carlos, John Arne Riise and Florent Malouda amongst others, the team managed to improve upon its performance from the inaugural edition and although they ended second best against Goa tonight, it would be unfair to not laud them for their valiant efforts.

Coach Carlos seemed to echo our sentiments as he came to address the media in the post match interaction.

Excerpts:

Hello coach, what in your opinion went wrong today?

To be honest we lost the tie in Delhi. We had so many opportunities there-could have scored 3,4 or even 5 times there. Coming in to today’s game, I was afraid and I knew it could happen. Also two of the three goals we conceded today were our mistakes. Having said that, today Goa was a lot better and they deserved to go ahead

About my team, I wish them about going forward. They gave their best.

Late in the match, we noticed a scuffle between players and officials. Can you elaborate on that?

I don’t think its necessary to talk about it. It just happened in heat of the moment. I have my friends in Goa and I wish them the best.

We would rather take a moment to celebrate the carnival that ISL was.

Also Riise was substituted really early today, what was the thinking behind that?

He hit his head and I thought it would be good to sub him and get Chicao back in defence.

You mentioned before how you adulate Zico; is it easier accepting defeat to your mentor thus?

There are 2 sides- our friendship and the professional side. Zico is special and I wish him all the best for the final- but for me losing is always difficult. I never take it well.

Finally, a word on the entire season. How was it like to coach the Dynamos?

It was very special indeed. Getting the team to the play offs was good. Even though the team was built very quickly, I am proud of everything my team and the players did.

Thank you to everyone in India, I hope I left a good image here

You mentioned previously that you aren't going to return to Delhi; can we expect to see you manage some other ISL franchisee though?

I have some proposals, will think about it and let you guys know soon!
