Atletico de Kolkata's (ATK) marquee signing Helder Postiga, who suffered a rib injury during the match against Kerala Blasters, is all set to feature in the Indian Super League (ISL) soon. The team management confirmed that the injury was a minor one and the Portuguese star has been advised rest for a few days.
In a press release, the Kolkata-based club provided an injury update on Postiga. The 34-year old forward was taken off the field in the 17th minute after he picked up a rib injury. Postiga was taken to a city hospital to ascertain the extent of the injury where he underwent an MRI scan.
However, the test reports suggested that the injury is a minor one and there is no reason to worry. The club informed that the forward has been advising to rest for a while and it should be sooner rather than later, that Postiga takes the field.

The former Tottenham striker, who had featured in previous year's ISL as ATK's marquee player, started both the matches in this season. He also assisted once in ATK's 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC in Kolkata.
Postiga provides a wealth of experience to Atletico de Kolkata
Helder Postiga has represented his national team in two World Cups and three European Championships. and has contributed substantially to his nation. He is one of the most important players for the Kolkata team this season and his contribution on the field is much needed.
ATK is not unfamiliar with Postiga's injury problems. Last year as well, the former Porto striker pulled his hamstring after scoring two goals in ATK's opening fixture against Chennaiyin FC. Inspired by Postiga's performance and leadership, ATK went on to win the match 3-2. However, the star forward was sidelined for the remainder of the season.

That time as well, initial reports from the club claimed that the injury was a minor one and that Postiga will take part in the tournament but that was not the case.
The ATK team management will be hoping that things will go differently this season. Postiga is their main centre-forward and all the young Indian players look up to his leadership on the field.
The side have started the season unbeaten with one win and a draw. And with Postiga returning to the pitch soon, the Kolkata club will be confident of more wins under their belt.
