After a goalless draw against Mumbai City FC, FC Goa coach Zico and player Bikramjit Singh addressed the media in a press conference.
Q. FC Goa has played with all the teams now. Do you think it is still possible for FC Goa to win?
A. Zico- Of course there is a possibility for us to win. We now have five points. I know that we have had too many losses, but we can have victories as well. We lost some games that we could have won, but as soon as we have the odds in our favour, we believe that we will win.
Q. FC Goa is creating chances to score, but aren’t able to score. How do you plan to overcome this problem?
A. Zico- If we had more options, we would have used it. As you know we have four strikers and I gave them chance to play and all the four strikers have played. But unfortunately, they are not scoring. I cannot improvise and put someone else in their position to try to save the game. All the strikers had a chance to score, but only one of them scored.
Q. Has it become like a mental block that even if the team has the chance to score, they are not scoring?
A. Zico- I really don’t know. I can’t answer this question. I think it will be best if you ask them this question. My responsibility is to train the team. To tell them how to shoot the ball, the way they have to position themselves. But for the game on the field, it is up to them to score.
Q. What is the status of Andre Santos?
A. Zico- I really hope that he will be fit to play the next match. We will have to see how he does in the training tomorrow.
Q. Coach you selected Andre Santos for the team. If given chance to select more players, you would have selected more players?
A. Zico- If I could choose more, I definitely would have. I had only one option and I chose Andre Santos. If I had the opportunity to select more players, I would have.
Q. How has experience been so far playing for FC Goa?
A. Bikramjit- It has been an amazing experience. ISL is a great opportunity for Indian players, since we are getting to play with great players and coach under such a great coach. Our confidence is already up and it will definitely help Indian football players.
Q. You are the only player in the team who is not from Dempo Sports Club. Did you face any problems initially?
A. Bikramjit- I had no problems at all. They all have been very helpful, especially Clifford Miranda and Debabrata Roy. They motivate me and help me on the ground, if I do some mistakes. I am enjoying my time with the team and never did they make me feel that I am from some other club.
Zico- In the team, there are no players from different clubs. All the players play for one team and that is FC Goa.
Q. This is the first game you have played. Did you doubt that you will get a chance to play for the league?
A. Bikramjit- No I never doubted it. It is up to the coach since he knows better which player will play better in which match. Today he gave me the chance to play and I gave my 100 per cent and I am very happy with my performance.
Q. Same question to you too, is there a mental block when it comes to scoring?
A. Bikramjit- Like coach said, the strikers are creating opportunities to score, but it is just bad luck that they are unable to score.
