The Gunners were left fuming after latest medical results revealed a hairline fracture to Jack Wilshere‘s left foot, which will keep him out of action for approximately 8 weeks, if the rehabilitation goes to plan.

The attacking midfielder was caught by center back Daniel Agger with an over the top tackle in the recent international friendly between England and Denmark, which has incensed Arsenal fans who are now calling for the Liverpool vice-captain’s ban.

The 21-year took an executive decision to carry on, and could have ended up aggrevating the injury.

Sensationally, the Arsenal are applying for compensation of a massive £600,000 from the English Football Association for the injury.

Although the FA do compensate clubs for injuries to English players on international duty, the circumstances of this case might be more complicated, considering Wilshere’s admission of personally deciding to stay on the pitch.

More importantly for Wilshere, he might not make the plane to the Brazil World Cup, after Roy Hodgson categorically stated that he would refrain from selecting injured or under-prepared players.

“With the amount of people knocking quite heavily on the door it would be a bit sad to leave someone who is 100 per cent fit and in fantastic form out, in favour of someone else who wasn’t fit and might just recover during the tournament.” he said.

“I don’t think any player would expect that, or for me to show loyalty at a time when they are not 100 per cent fit, or to go there and not do a good job over someone who is 100 per cent fit and can do a good job.” he added.

Much to the devastation of the promising playmaker, he could miss yet another major international tournament after having missed out on the 2012 Euros due to injury.

“I definitely don’t feel that I’m a definite. I’ve got a lot of work to do between now and May.You have got to stay fit, that’s the most important thing, and then we will see what happens.” Wishere said.
