Jan Vertonghen’s perfect assist putting Samuel Eto’o through on goal

Samuel Eto'o goal

Chelsea striker Samuel Etoo (R) scores a goal during the EPL match between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.

We all love a beautiful assist don’t we ? Usually done by a midfielder, with the ball at his feet, gliding through the rack of players or simply sitting back and picking the perfect moment, with a delicate swing of his boot, a delightful through ball for the striker. How we love Pirlo, Xavi & Xabi for exactly this.

Well Spurs’ Belgian defender, Jan Vertonghen, managed just this against Chelsea, going one further and doing it lying on the ground and a sliced swing of the boot.

Jokes aside, while the Belgian is a pretty solid defender and one of the best ball-playing one’s in the Premier League, he had an embarrassing moment against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The two London rivals met in a crucial game for both sides, with Chelsea chasing the title and Spurs chasing Champions League football.

With the score at 0-0 after the first half, Chelsea got the crucial first goal of the game through ‘old man’ Samuel Eto’o (see his celebration for the goal), the assist though came through an almost pin-point pass from Vertonghen after he slipped and hurriedly tried to pass it back to his keeper

Look away Spurs fans.
