Jose Mourinho charged by FA with misconduct, Alan Shearer says he has embarrassed Chelsea players

Jose Mourinho and his men suffered their fourth defeat of the season against Southampton

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been charged by England’s Football Association with misconduct in relation to comments he made after his team’s 3-1 defeat to Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, according to a statement from the FA. The Portuguese boss had accused Premier League referees of being biased against his side, hours after he was given public backing by the club.

The under-pressure Chelsea boss had made claims in several post-match interviews on Saturday. And he had been angered by referee Robert Madley’s refusal to award a penalty when Radamel Falcao was brought down in the box.

“I think it is time to be honest and say clearly that referees are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea,” Mourinho said.

“At 1-1 there is a huge penalty and once more we do not get it. It was at a crucial moment in the game. I repeat, if the FA wants to punish me they can punish me, it is not a problem.”

The FA issued a statement, charging Mourinho for his comments after the game against Southampton. The Portuguese has until 6 pm on Thursday 8 October 2015 to respond to the charge.

“It is alleged his remarks constitute improper conduct in that they allege and/or imply bias on the part of a match official or match officials and/or bring the game into disrepute.”

Mourinho could lose the dressing room: Alan Shearer

Alan Shearer played for three Premier League clubs during his career.

Although Chelsea’s hierarchy has given their vote of confidence to Jose Mourinho on Monday by issuing a statement on Monday that declared the club retains their "full support" in Mourinho, former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer fears that the Blues boss could lose the dressing room soon and he has suggested Mourinho to change his current ways, as per the reports in The Mirror.

Following their defeat to Southampton, Mourinho has made a promise to stick with the club during this rough patch and has insisted he will only quit if he loses the dressing room. However, Match of the Day pundit, Shearer has warned Mourinho that he needs to change how he is currently dealing with his players, otherwise, he could be seeing the situation go bad to worse.

“Mourinho has taken on the club doctor and the players and now he seems to be turning his attention to the owner,” Shearer said. “It looks to me that there has been a bust-up of huge proportions and nobody has got over it.

Shearer questioned Mourinho’s man-management skills and cited examples he had seen so far this season.

“Everything he has tried to remedy the situation hasn’t worked. He has left players out, criticised them in public and embarrassed them,” Shearer continued.

John Terry was humiliated at Manchester City when he was taken off at half-time and told he was too slow. Mind you, he returned on Saturday and they looked even worse. And Nemanja Matic was humiliated — brought on at half-time and taken off 27 minutes later.

“That does not motivate players, believe me, and his team-mates would not have liked it either. All Mourinho’s stars from last year, Terry, Cahill, Fabregas, Matic, Costa and Hazard are playing badly.

“You can get a situation where you see one or two drop their levels from a title-winning season but not this many.”
