Speculation is rife in the media about Chelsea reportedly offering Jose Mourinho a two-year contract extension. The Portuguese manager is already on a contract at the club that will keep him at Stamford Bridge till 2017 at least.

Chelsea were apparently keen to begin contract extension talks earlier but held off until the Premier League was wrapped up.

Mourinho returned to the Blues in the summer of 2013, despite having a trophyless season last time around, he seems to have put Chelsea on a track for progress that should see them in a strong position for years to come and it appears that Chelsea want Mourinho to remain at the helm.

Having been asked about his future earlier this season he expressed a desire to stay at Chelsea for the long-term.

“I’m not here thinking about my next move because I don’t want to have a next move,” he said. “I’m here to stay. I belong to Chelsea, Chelsea belong to me. I gave a lot to Chelsea in the past but they also gave a lot to me.”

Neither the club, not Mourinho himself have confirmed or denied any ongoing discussions but it wouldn’t be a surprise move if the contract extension does go through, as Mourinho spoke about potentially spending 12 years at Chelsea when he came back to the club in 2013.
