Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has apologised to the fans for the side’s shocking 3-5 loss to newly promoted Leicester City.
In his weekly blog on his official website, Mata revealed that the loss hurt after all the anticipation that preceded it.
The 26-year-old came on in the second half to replace Falcao with the scores tied at 3-3.
The journey back seemed long
"After a whole week waiting for the match I could not imagine a Sunday like this," the Spaniard wrote.
"The way back from Leicester to Manchester on the bus seemed really long. I keep thinking about how we lost a game that was under control.
"It's really tough to score three goals away and come back home with no points. On our way back to Manchester I was thinking about what had happened and felt so disappointed as all those that came with us to the stadium.
An apology to the fans
"Honestly, I feel very sorry that the weekend ended up for our fans in such a sad way."

Hopeful for the future

Manchester United await West Ham at Old Trafford and will be without the suspended Tyler Blackett and injured Evans and Jones.
