Career Guide

Julian Schieber has always been a physical striker in front of the goal and has great ability to finish. He made his debut on 6th December, 2008 and since then there has been no turning back. For Stuttgart, he has been merely a third choice and backup striker and was basically a bench-warmer. But whenever called upon, he has shown great confidence, and the qualities of a great striker in the making. Some high points of his career are:

1.Scoring a stunner for his first goal in the German Bundesliga in a Baden-Wuettemberg derby match against FC Freiburg.

2.Finding the back of the net twice against Eintracht Frankfurt.

3. Playing a pivotal role this season in VfB Stuttgart’s legendary 4-4 draw in an away match against Borussia Dortmund where he netted twice.

How he shall fare at Westfalenstadion

Schieber has found his way into the holy abode of young talents in the Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund, with its young coach and manager, Jurgen Klopp, who has brought him in to replace Lucas Barrios, and as a back-up for Robert Lewandowski. If one remembers the summer of May ’08, Jurgen Klopp arrived at a Dortmund side which had no money to spend and had finished a disappointing 13th the previous season. This led the side to prefer signing young talent ahead of proven players. He has a foresight similar to Arsene Wenger and has created and nurtured numerous talents. Alongside the 18 year-old Leonardo Bittencourt (another emerging German talent) who was signed from FC Energie Cottbus, he adds to the young armoury at Borussia Dortmund alongside Marco Reus, whose deal was done this January. So he is in right hands to help his abilities grow and shine at Borussia Dortmund.

The author wishes the youngster all the very best for his future.
