Celso Teixeira, manager of third division club Juventus-SC has come under heavy fire after allegedly making a sexist remark on female lineswoman Maira Americano Labes a ‘hot chick’ in Portuguese.

However, according to Teixeira, he didn’t make that remark, and claims to have been set up.

“From the moment she walked onto the pitch in that uniform, there were insults coming down from the stands the whole time,’” he was quoted on Metro. “I’m sure someone called her a ‘hot chick’, but it wasn’t me. This is a joke.”

The Brazilian football federation is now said to be investigating the incident, and Teixeria could be facing a hefty ban if found guilty.
