Sao Paulo vice-president Ataide Gil Guerreiro has confirmed that AC Milan will be making a return to his boyhood club Sao Paulo before he permanently makes his switch to MLS side Orlando City.

"After 60 days of negotiations we have reached an agreement, but there isn't anything formal yet," Guerreiro told Brazilian TV station Redacao SporTV. "There are steps to be taken but when it comes to values, there is an agreement between all parties involved – Milan, MLS, Orlando, Kaka and Sao Paulo.

"He will sign a contract with the MLS. Clubs can choose three designated players, Orlando chose Kaka. He will undergo a medical and will join Orlando, then he will be loaned to Sao Paulo for six months until December 31,” he added. “Not only is Kaka excited, but he is also physically peaking."

The club has confirmed Kaka’s departure via Twitter:

According to a report published by Goal, Kaka activated the release clause in his contract that allowed him to leave Milan given they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

He will now be spending six months on loan at Sao Paulo, and will move to the MLS when the new season starts. He will also become Orlando City’s first ever designated signing after they were announced as an MLS expansion franchise for 2015.
