Sami Khedira’s with Real Madrid runs out at the end of this season

Berlin, March 26 (IANS) Germany midfielder Sami Khedira confirmed he will exit Real Madrid at the end of the season as his contract expires. The 27-year-old reaffirmed his decision to leave Real after the Germany vs Australia friendly, which ended in 2-2 in Kaiserslautern.

"This is not a decision against Real, I just want to spice up my career and evolve," Khedira told German magazine Kicker said on Wednesday.

“I love Real Madrid and it will be hard for me to leave this club," added Khedira, who has made 17 appearances for Real in all competitions this season. “I don’t have an agreement with any club nor any preferences as to who I would like to join.”

"I will do everything I can to continue helping the team during the forthcoming weeks.”

Having joined Real Madrid in 2010 from Stuttgart, Khedira won last season's Champions League with the Spanish giants and has been linked to Bundesliga side Schalke 04. Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal have also been linked to him.

Khedira played a key role in Germany's 7-1 demolition of hosts Brazil in the World Cup semifinals.
