Berlin, Dec 22 (IANS) German international Christoph Kramer will return to Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the current season after four years of loan spell and has extended the contract until 2019, the Bundesliga club confirmed Monday.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who played in Leverkusen's youth and reserve teams from 2008 to 2011, was promoted to the first team in 2011 with a six-year contract but was immediately loaned out to second division teams Bochum for two years before having the chance to debut for the senior team of Leverkusen, reports Xinhua.

Kramer has been serving a loan spell in Borussia Moenchengladbach since July 2013. He earned his first international cap for Germany this year before going on to start in the final of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"He now returns as national team player and world champion, it couldn't have been better for the player and the club," Leverkusen's managing director Michael Schade said.

Kramer has played 36 league matches for Moenchengladbach and scored four goals.
