Gareth Bale is unhappy at Real Madrid

Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale is set to send shockwaves around the world of football by moving to Manchester United, if reports in the Spanish press are to be believed. The Welshman is apparently frustrated at playing second fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo and was ‘enraged’ when substituted recently against Villarreal.

According to Spanish news outlet, Diario Gol, Gareth Bale has instructed his agent to sound out a move to Manchester United. The tipping point was the Welshman being replaced by Lucas Vazquez in Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw to Villarreal, as an insider close to the Welshman said, “Bale was enraged. He was scowling.

Bale has reportedly long harboured frustrations with both Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane. The Welshman has stonewalled Perez’s offers of an improved contract, with Bale unhappy at how he is being valued by Madrid in comparison to teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Indeed, Bale is miffed at his role in the team as well, according to the report. Zinedine Zidane has made Bale more central to Real’s plans off late, but still considers Ronaldo to be the one to build the team around. The former Tottenham star is growing increasingly frustrated and has instructed his agent, Jonathan Barnett, to explore the possibility of moving to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho would love Bale at Old Trafford

Gareth Bale moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid for a then world record fee of €100 million. Manchester United recently broke that record by paying Juventus €105 million for Paul Pogba, and can expect to pony up a similarly huge amount to lure Bale from Madrid to Manchester.

With United in desperate need for more star power up front, Bale would represent the perfect signing. Jose Mourinho was already a big fan of the Welshman in his Tottenham days and would jump at the chance to bring the wing-wizard to Old Trafford.

Despite being unhappy at Real Madrid, Gareth Bale has flourished at the Santiago Bernabeu, racking up 49 goals in 85 appearances for the Galacticos, including a number of pivotal goals for Real Madrid at crucial moments.

Yet, with his agents having set the move in motion, it remains to be seen just how highly Real Madrid value the Welshman, who is still incensed that Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo stayed on the pitch against Villarreal, with Bale having played better than the duo. It could be the start of a long transfer saga.
