The Manchester City players will sport a revamped kit for the 2016/17 season in the Barclays Premier League as revealed by the leaked images from Footy Headlines that have surfaced online. The 2016/17 kit has been designed by Nike and the players will flaunt their new jerseys in the first pre-season game of the season.

Earlier this year, it was announced by the team management that the Spanish manager Pep Guardiola would take over the reigns from the Italian Manual Pelligrini as the new manager. The introduction of a new kit gives the team a fresh appearance and it will make the fans look forward to the next season.

The new club crest:

The home kit will retain the traditional sky blue of Manchester City with changes in the pattern of the jersey. The club had revealed its new crest before the boxing day fixture against Sunderland at the Etihad in the 2015/16 season. The new crest symbolises the Manchester ship, the three rivers, and the Lancashire rose after fans voted online for the features that were to be inserted.

The old crest featured a golden eagle with a shield in front of it. The Shield had a Manchester Ship and the three stripes below the ship represented the city's three rivers- the Irwell, the Irk, and the Medlock. The bottom of the badge bears the motto Superbia in Proelio, which translates as Pride in Battle in Latin.

Home Kit:

The new kit will have the sky blue shirt with sleeves offset in navy and light blue. The kit will feature a simple collar with the lettering ‘City’ on the back. The crest is on the left of the shirt while bearing the Nike logo on the right and the sponsors Etihad Airways on the chest region.

The most noticeable thing about the 2016/17 kit, apart from the crest, is that it will feature sky blue shirt, sky blue shorts, and white socks combination. This kit resembles the new Euro kits made by Nike and the pattern is clearly seen with the shirt and shorts bearing the same color with different colored socks. The third kit of City has already got the treatment from Nike.

Third Kit:

The third kit was revealed by Nike this year and it was used in the FA cup game against Chelsea. Labelled as ‘Ghost green’, the fluorescent green color was chosen for the shirt and the shorts with black socks. This kit will also feature the club’s new crest with a black gradient on the edge of the sleeves.

The new kit comes as a welcome change for the club with the arrival of Pep Guardiola in July and the fans will hope that it brings them the luck they will need to reclaim the throne after missing out on winning the Premier League in two successive seasons.
