Football fever has gripped the city. From the chatty college canteens to the sophisticated office cafeterias, each place has now become a hot spot where game strategies are being discussed. The late night sleepover at a friend’s place to calling your bosses early in morning to tell them that you’ll be late for work, football has spread its wings, period.

There are two kinds of football fans, those who only watch football, cheer their lungs out in support for their team and the others who not only support but also practice what they see. Such were the enthusiasts spotted at the biggest Corporate football tournament, Audi Gurgaon presents - The Legends Cup powered by Adidas in association with Snapdeal.com. The 6v6 tournament took place at Plaza farms, Chattarpur, Delhi.

The two-day event came alive on a Saturday afternoon with the excited energy of various teams and their supporters, families and friends, all coming from different sectors of the corporate world. Here, football was definitely a religion.

The corporates took immense pride in showcasing skills like the 360 and the nutmeg, skills that have been displayed by the likes of Neymar, Messi, Ronaldinho and many more superstars. A little girl was asked who her favourite player was and she grinned and said, “Messi!”

This time 36 corporate teams participated, included the likes of Genpact, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, American Express, Google, Encore Capital, HCL Fidelity Infosys Services, Geodis, PWC, Amarchand & Mangaldas. The ground looked beautiful with its lush green grass and the weather was just perfect.

“A player must play under any given circumstances,” one of the participants was quoted as saying. The environment was full of fun and frolic, and the crowd cheered the players on, giving them a lot of motivation.

The tourney was organised by the famous duo Geetika Bahl and Hemant Sharma, who kept every detail in mind. The food that was served was hot and fresh and the energy drinks, sponsored by Red Bull yet again, were nice and cool, which was a huge relief to the gathering on a hot Delhi evening.

This time the event witnessed an increase in footfall, with an average of about 600 people per day, which was more than expected but it only added to the spirit on display.

Dedicated and professional photographers captured some real life moments on their cameras. V2 Motion Pictures, our media partners, covered the whole event. Sports Illustrated - The World’s Biggest Magazine covered the event exclusively for the first time ever in its history.

The tournament, designed like the Champions League, was divided into four categories i.e. Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. In every , prizes were given to the winners followed by the runner’s up and a Best player in each category. The Platinum Cup winners also took back with them a huge cash prize along with a beautiful, massive trophy.

Other goodies and jerseys sponsored by Safexpress and Adidas were also presented to the winners and runners-up. The event was covered by our media sponsor V2 Motion Pictures. Worlds of Wonder presented complimentary passes to all the participants. Keeping aside the results each team displayed great fight, and all the matches were full of a healthy competitive spirit.

The whole football extravaganza came to an end on a pleasant Sunday evening, with the prize distribution ceremony the last event. Everyone bid each other goodbye, with the hope that they would face off once again, at the next edition of the Legends Cup.
