Paris, Oct 20 French Ligue 1 leaders Marseille extended their advantage to seven points after winning 2-0 over Toulouse at home.

The win Sunday was Marcelo Bielsa's eighth straight victory in charge of Marseille this season, leaving a lackluster opening of just one point from the first two outings far behind, reports Xinhua.

Andre-Pierre Gignac netted his 10th Ligue 1 goal on 35 minutes to lead the league's top scorers, following an opener from Nicolas Nkoulou in the 20th minute.

Bordeaux could have narrowed the gap back to five points, but they were held 1-1 by struggling Caen in another 10th round Ligue 1 game late Sunday.

With the home draw, Bordeaux still are in third place with 18 points, trailing the second-placed Paris Saint-Germain on goal difference.

Elsewhere, Lyon registered a stunning 5-1 triumph over Montpellier to extend their unbeaten streak to six matches and to move up to fourth place.
