This comes shortly after he announced after that game that the Argentine players would hold a media blackout. Messi being captain of Argentina decided and announced that all of the Argentina players would boycott the media following stories about teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Last week was shrouded in doubt for Barcelona fans all over the world as reports emerged that the player had turned down a new contract with the Catalan giants but according to reports coming in today it is believed now that negotiations are progressing smoothly.

A number of reports suggested moves by Premier League clubs but it is understood that a new contract is imminent and that Messi will extend his stay at Barcelona beyond 2018.

The Argentine superstar has been in superb form for Barca this season and has already scored 17 goals in 13 games in La Liga. The Barcelona man recently broke yet another record of scoring 100 goals for Barcelona in European competitions. He has also scored 9 goals from just 10 shots on goal in the UEFA Champions League.

Messi continues to prove that he is simply one of the best players to have ever played the game by his consistently inspiring performances. The world will be eager to hear from the player at the Adidas “Never Follow” event and it is certain that he will speak his mind about all the controversy surrounding the national team, his Barcelona teammates and possibly his contract status.
