Liverpool have taken their first step in finding a replacement for Luis Suarez. According to reports, the Reds have offered £8.5million for the services of QPR forward Loic Remy.

Loic Remy joined the ‘R’s from Olympique Marseille in the January, 2013. But even his late flurry of goal couldn’t help Rangers avoid the drop that season.

Last season, the French international was on loan to Newcastle United, where he scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with Arsenal, after he was spotted in the crowd at The Emirates. Wage demands by the striker however seemed to have put that deal off.

Remy has been given permission to talk with the Merseyside club after Liverpool matched the Frenchman’s release clause which was reportedly set at £8million for clubs playing in the Champions League.

If the deal goes through, Remy will be Brendan Rodgers’ fifth signing of the summer. The Reds have already bagged Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic this off-season.
