Liverpool left-back Andre Wisdom is all set to go out on loan to West Brom this season, according to reports.

The deal was confirmed by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers whilst speaking to the club’s official website.

"After today, Andre is going to go on loan to West Brom," Rodgers told Liverpool's official website following the Reds’ 2-1 pre-season win over Preston. "He had a very successful period at Derby last year, he did very well under Steve McClaren.

"He now has the opportunity to go to another very good coach in Alan Irvine, who I know from my youth days. He is an excellent coach and West Brom are an excellent club.

"West Brom have been a rising club for the last few years in the Premier League. He'll go there and it will be another chance for his education and development to continue.

"He'll join up with them sooner rather than later and spend the season there on loan. That will be another step for him in his development, playing regularly in the Premier League."

Andre Wisdom saw his playing time curtailed at Anfield last season after the emergence of Jon Flannagan and the arrivals of Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure.

Hence, the Liverpool youth product was sent on loan to Derby last season to see more playing time.

The defender excelled at Pride Park under the tutelage of Steve McLaren. He was instrumental in getting Derby to the Championship play-off final at Wembley, where they lost 1-0 to QPR.

West Brom meanwhile will like to shore up a patchy defence which conceded 59 goals last season.
