A bad day to be Brendan Rodgers, the baseball player

Fans confused the baseball player Brendan Rodgers for the former Liverpool manager on Twitter

Liverpool sacked their manager Brendan Rodgers following a tame 1-1 draw against bitter rivals. Rodgers has been receiving a lot of condolence messages on Twitter since the news became public, but there is one little problem, the Northern Irishman does not have a verified Twitter account of his own, unlike some of his managerial colleagues.

Coincidentally there happens to be a baseball player whose name is Brendan Rodgers, this Rodgers though is a 19-year old American boy who plays for Colorado Rockies as a shortstop.

The twitter outburst would have definitely shocked the youngster as he didn’t do anything that would have got him sacked. Clearly tired of receiving the miss directed posts he tweeted a post saying:

You might think the display picture would have tipped some of the tweeters, and if that didn’t cut it, the twitter handle should have raised some flags as “@Broddddd3” very out of character for the former Swansea manager.

Here are some of the ridiculous replies the 19-year old Rodgers received for his post:

If Twitter did want to console someone for Rodgers being sacked, it needs to be the fans of the parody account, Deluded Brendan. Deluded Brendan has entertained the fans of football over the years and will truly be missed in case Rodgers fails to find another job. The user showed great character after finding out he lost his job.

American Rodgers could have been a football player

The youngster though might have had the chance to play under the Irish Rodgers, as he started off as a soccer player. In an interview with Baseball America it was revealed that he came from a soccer family, where both of his brothers played the sport and his dad, Greg, was also a coach. The player though was redirected through destiny when he found his passion for baseball when his father's friend, Ralph Nenna, introduced him to the baseball.

Brendan Rodger’s mother said, “We didn’t do baseball in this family; we’re a soccer family.

“But we always say to Ralph, ‘If not because of you, Brendan would not have played baseball.’ Brendan picked up the little ball and never picked up a soccer ball.”

The youngster who attended Lake Mary High School in Florida got his break in professional baseball when he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies with the third pick of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. The player made his first professional debut in the Rookie-level Pioneer League with the Grand Junction Rockies.
