KIm Thomsen, a Liverpool FC fan who was rescued after spending 19 hours in freezing cold, shark infested waters believes that his “You’ll Never Walk Alone” tattoo helped him survive the ordeal and kept him alive.

Thomsen, an Australian had gone for fishing with his nephew Sean Coffey, and his nephew’s friend Bryce Weppner on the sea coast in Western Australia when they were hit by two huge waves. Sean Coffey’s body was not found while his friend Weppner drowned as he drifted away from Thomsen.

The Liverpool fan, whose son also has the same tattoo said that the thought of seeing his son with each battling stroke enabled him to survive all the hurdles and kept him going through all the hardships in a 19 hour long battle. He was found naked in the sea when he was rescued by a channel 7 TV crew in their helicopter.

“I just had one thing to think about and that was my son. We’ve both got the same tattoo and every time I took a stroke I could see that. We’ve both got You’ll Never Walk Alone. We’re both Liverpool fans.

That sort of kept me going - I’m not giving up, you know, I’m just going to do everything I can to at least say goodbye to this guy before I part this world,” he said.
