Liverpool is one of the most successful European teams in 2015, after winning 20 points out of eight league games since the start of 2015. They have a points per game ratio of 2.50 making them the second best team in Europe behind Bundesliga's’s VfL Wolfsburg.
Liverpool’s win over Manchester City has put the team two points behind their league rivals Manchester United and three points behind third-placed Arsenal. Liverpool is currently at fifth position in the Barclays Premier League and is challenging for a top-4 finish which entitles them to a spot in the Champions League.
Since the beginning of 2015, the team lead by their 22-year old Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho have won 20 points out of eight. Arsenal with 18 points out of eight games and Chelsea with 14 points out of seven games are the closest to Liverpool in terms of points per game ratio in the Premier League.
Wolfsburg, though, is the only team among the top five European leagues to have a better points per game ratio than Liverpool. Wolfsburg led by striker Bas Dost and former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne have won 16 points off their six games.
Wolfsburg have narrowed the gap between themselves and league leaders Bayern Munich since the beginning of the New Year. Although they are eight points behind Bayern, barring anything dramatic, it looks like they have a guaranteed spot in the Champions League.
