Liverpool sign striker Danny Ings

Danny Ings

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Burnley striker Danny Ings on a free transfer. The 22-year-old Englishman will join the Reds on July 1 when his contract with Burnley expires. The deal is subject to Ings passing a medical.

Having already announced a similar deal for James Milner earlier, this will qualify as Liverpool’s second summer signing.

They have been among the early movers in the transfer market. While there are still rumours surrounding other players and potential moves to Anfield, these are perhaps signs for Liverpool fans that the club is looking to respond to what has been a disappointing campaign in 2013-14.

Ings was linked with several clubs in the country and a few abroad following Burnley’s relegation from the top flight and Liverpool were evidently the quickest to snap him up.

Danny Ings scored 11 goals in the 2013-14 Premier League campaign with Burnley – a feat that no Liverpool striker could achieve. Moreover, if the goals of all 4 of their senior strikers were added up, it still would not even equal the tally that Ings racked up.
