Liverpool target Alberto Moreno responds to transfer rumours

Moreno could soon be a Liverpool player

Liverpool transfer target Alberto Moreno has claimed that his father is taking care of things after the Reds submitted a bid for the left-back yesterday.

The Reds are in dire need of defensive additions and Moreno is the first step for the club in rebuilding their shaky foundations in an attacking side.

Liverpool submitted a bid for Moreno, believed to be £16 million plus midfielder Suso on loan for a season. However, there are now rumours that the player offered to the Europa League champions is Luis Alberto, who was of course on loan at Sevilla before moving to Liverpool. It is understood that the Spanish side would prefer Alberto to Suso.

“In these matters my agent and my father are responsible and now I’m going to a World Cup,” he said.

Perhaps this quote indicates that his father must be in close contact with Liverpool right now and a move could be near.

Moreno has been a star in Sevilla’s first-team for two years and at 21 has been selected for Spain’s World Cup squad. The defender has won 38 tackles this season, at a tackle success percentage of 40%. What’s more, he’s also made 73 interceptions which is more than the likes of Gary Medel (65), Mikel Arteta (63) and James McCarthy (52).

Reports in Spain suggest a deal to take the young full-back to Liverpool is almost complete with the final details just to be ironed out.
